When carrying out our field work we adopted the role of visual ethnographers. Photography captures a moment in time and preserves it. You are then able to study it in detail and abstract details that otherwise would have been missed. Photographs are a quick and easy way to document things and they hold volumes of information
Influence of John Berger
John Berger and photographer Jean Mohr explore the way that photographs tell stories in the book ‘Another way of telling’. We want our map to tell a story and so the photos that we use are going to contribute to the story of the map. They ‘seek to document and to understand intimately the lived experiences of their peasant subjects’. We want to be able intimately the everyday that we are photographing which will contribute to the audience understanding their every day
