The Project

It is undeniable that travel is a part of everyday life for most people. Getting from A to B is a necessity and in today’s fast paced world it has become ore important than ever. Travel can be seen as wasted time so for most as little time spent doing it the better. There are many variations of how travel in today’s society. With so many options available to us why do we choose to travel the way we do? Comfort, cost and time are three key factors to consider.

Travel can be linked closely to the consumer society that we a living in. People want to get to their destination as quickly as possible so they are able to continue with consumption whether it is through leisure time or through working which aids the consumption during leisure time.

We wanted to combine the everyday task of travel with the everyday process of consumption. Most people are aware that travel is a part of their everyday lives but fewer are aware of the extent that consumerism is a part of their everyday life despite it being so familiar to them. Though our project we wanted to raise this awareness.

With on average 2.7 million passengers using the London Underground everyday we decided to base our project around the underground (http://www.trainweb.org/tubeprune/Statistics.htm)
